*West Burlington, IA* (Saturday, August 5, 2017) – Saturday, August 5th might have been another race night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, but on this night it was all about the kids. As the group from “High Five Racing” put a smile on many kids faces, as many bikes, scooters, sacks of school supplies, and much more was given out to 555 kids. The on track  action seen four new drivers score wins, and two others pick up their multiple wins on Casebine Credit Union and J&M Display Night.

The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap Casebine Credit Union IMCA SportMods, with Rick Barlow Jr. and Jacob Whittington drawing the front row. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Tom Lathrop went over the track in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the original restart Whittington jumped out into the lead on lap 1 over Ron Kibbe and Kyle Hill, who started 5th. Then just after lap 1 was  scored complete another caution appeared, as Ryan Miller and Lathrop spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Kibbe got into Dan Keltner, who spun in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Whittington move back out front, with Brandon Lennox, who started 10th, and Barlow Jr. close behind. Lennox would work around Whittington on lap 3 to take the top spot away. Then after the lap was  scored complete, another caution waved. This time Barlow Jr. and John Oliver Jr. got hooked together and slowed in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Lennox jumped back out front, with Hill and Austen Becerra, who started 14th, following. The action up front was slowed for the final time on lap 5, when medical attention in the grandstands brought the field to a halt. Once again Lennox grabbed the lead on the restart, with Hill and Becerra close behind. Coming off turn 4 to complete lap 7  Lennox drifted high and allowed Hill to shoot under him to take over the top spot. Hill then held off Becerra over the final laps to claim his first win of the season at the track. Becerra was 2nd, Sean Wyett passed 13 cars from his 16th place starting spot to come home in 3rd, Lennox was 4th, with Brett Timmerman rounding out the top 5.

Up next was the 15 lap Deery Brothers IMRA Midget feature, with Dillon Morley and Adam Taylor leading the field to green. Morley would take advantage of his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Jeremy Hull and Chase McDermand. McDermand’s run up front came to an end on lap 3, when he slowed to a stop in turn 2 to bring out the first and only caution of the race. On the restart Morley moved back out front, with  Taylor and Jeff Mallonee close behind. Taylor then tried to work under Morley over the final laps, but Morley was able to hold him off to pick up his second win of the season at 34 Raceway. Taylor settled for 2nd, Mitchell Davis was 3rd after starting in 7th, Mallonee was 4th, with Tyson Hart coming home in 5th.

Travis Porter and Colton Fisher led the field to green in the 20 lap WT Gabeline & Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature, with Fisher grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Porter and Daniel Bergquist. While Fisher paced the field out front, the battle behind him was for second, third and fourth between Nick  Guernsey, Bergquist, and Brayden Gaylord. The lead for Fisher went away on lap 17 when he drifted high coming off turn 4, which allowed Guernsey, Gaylord, Bergquist, and Jarrod Schneiderman, who started 10th, to slip by him. One lap later Guernsey gave up the lead, as Gaylord slipped past him  for the top spot. Then coming to the white flag Schneiderman over took Guernsey for second and then went to work on Gaylord for the lead. But Gaylord was able to hold off a last lap challenge to score his first win of the season at the track. Schneiderman settled for 2nd, Guernsey was 3rd, Bergquist was 4th, with Fisher finishing in 5th.

The 20 lap Pepsi IMCA Stock Car feature was up next, with Tom Bowling Jr. and John Oliver Jr. drawing the front row. Oliver Jr. used his starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Tom Bowling Jr. and Dean Kratzer. Just as Oliver Jr. started to put some distance between himself and the rest of the field, the first caution came out on lap 6. Ethan Allen would spin in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Oliver Jr. jumped back out  front, with Tom Bowling Jr. and Kratzer close behind. Two laps later, lap 9, the second caution of the race slowed the pace, as debris in turn 2 brought out the yellow. Once again Oliver Jr. moved back out front on the restart, with Bowling Jr. and Kratzer battling for second. Just after the lap was scored complete another caution appeared, as debris in turn 4  brought out the yellow. On the restart Ray Raker, who started 8th and was running 4th, got into Bowling Jr. in turn 4, which sent Bowling Jr. spinning to bring the yellow light back on. The third attempt of a restart saw Oliver Jr. jump back out front, with Kratzer, and Shane Paris, who started 6th, close behind. Oliver Jr. again started to put some distance on the battle behind him, when the fifth caution came out on lap 14. Allen spun in turn 2 for his second solo caution to end his night. On the restart  Oliver Jr. moved back out front, with Kratzer and Paris following.  Kratzer’s run up front came to an end on the completion of lap 15, when he lost an engine coming off turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Oliver Jr. grabbed the lead on the restart, with Paris and Jake Wenig, who started 14th, close behind. Another lap scored complete produced another yellow, as Cody Washburne spun off the top of turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Matt Gavin spun in turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. The
following restart saw Oliver Jr. jump back out front, with Paris and Wenig following. Coming off turn 4 to get the white flag Oliver Jr, drifted high in 4, which allowed Paris and Wenig to go by. Then after the lap was scored complete, Scott Jordan stopped in turn 4 to bring out the yellow, and set up a one lap dash to the finish. On the restart Paris grabbed the lead,  with Wenig and Oliver Jr. close behind. Coming off turn 4 for the checkered flag Wenig worked under Paris, as the two dragged raced to the finish. Paris was able to edge out his first win at the track this season by inches, which was worth $1,000. Wenig settled for a close 2nd, Oliver Jr. was 3rd, Dane Fenton was 4th after starting in 12th, with Bowling Jr. recovering from his spin on lap 10 to come back up to finish in 5th.

Up next was the 20 lap Victory Lane Suspension IMCA Modified feature, with Creston Williams and Bill Roberts Jr. drawing the front row. Roberts Jr. used his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Williams and Dugan Thye. Just as Roberts Jr. started to pull away from the battle behind him, the first caution of the race came out on lap 5. Debris in turn 4 would bring out that yellow. On the restart Roberts Jr. moved back out  front, with Thye and Williams close behind. Three laps later, lap 9, the second and final caution of the race appeared, as Johnathan Huston stopped in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Roberts Jr. once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Thye and Williams following. Without another caution there was no catching Roberts Jr. on this night, as he scored his second  win of the season at the track. Thye was 2nd, Dennis LaVeine started 10th and finished 3rd, Dean McGee was 4th, with Williams rounding out the top 5.

The final feature to take to the track was the 12 lap Sonny’s Market 4-Cylinders, with Jaden DeLonjay and Ashton Blain leading the field to green. Blain would take advantage of his starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Darin Weisinger Jr., who started 6th, and Craig Bangert, who started 10th. The lead for Blain came to an end on lap 3, as Bangert slipped under him coming off turn 4 to take over the top spot. Then just after the lap was scored complete the first caution came out, as debris  down the front stretch brought out the yellow. On the restart Bangert jumped back out front, with Brandon Lambert, who started 8th, over taking Weisinger Jr. for second. One lap later, lap 5, Larry Miller stopped in turn 2 to bring out the second caution of the race. Bangert once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Lambert and Weisinger Jr. following. While Bangert started to pull away, Weisinger Jr. and Lambert battled back  and forth for the runner up spot. But the action would be slowed for the third time on lap 9, when a tire was clipped in turn 3 and pushed out onto the track to bring out the yellow. On the restart Seth Keiser and Jerrod Nichols collided in turn 1 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Bangert moved back out front, with Weisinger Jr. and Lambert continuing their battle for second. The battle for second would allow Bangert to go on to claim his first win of the season at 34 Raceway.  Lambert made a last lap pass of Weisinger Jr. to finish in 2nd, Jeffery DeLonjay finished 4th after starting in 11th, with Blain holding on for 5th.
