Continuous Rain Cancels Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway and Slocum 50 Weekend at 34 Raceway
FAIRBURY, IL (April 15, 2026) – With numerous rounds of showers and storms falling over the week, and more expected over the next 48 hours, the Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway, and the Slocum 50 weekend at 34 Raceway have been canceled for this Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18, 2026, for the MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends.
Over an inch and a half of rain has fallen at the Cedar County Raceway since Sunday, and the continued rain throughout this afternoon and evening has left the facility drenched and the pit area impassable for haulers. This event is currently unable to be rescheduled in 2026, but all avenues are being explored for a potential replacement race this season.
A similar situation has unfolded at the 34 Raceway as rain has fallen throughout the week with over a half inch of additional rainfall expected over the next 24-hours. The Storm Prediction Center 3-day severe weather outlook currently has West Burlington, Iowa placed in the 30% hatched area for Friday, with near another inch of rain expected to fall in conjunction with the severe weather risk. This joined with the real-feel temperature on Saturday being projected to be below 45 degrees for the entirety of the day were crucial factors with canceling both nights. Patrons that bought reserved seating will be refunded via My Race Pass this evening and will be back in the customer's accounts in 5-7 business days.
The tour looks forward to returning to both Cedar County Raceway and 34 Raceway in 2027.
The MARS Late Model Championship Powered by FK Rod Ends 2026 campaign is now set to begin with the JCB Diggin’ Dirt 40 at the Brownstown Bullring, in Brownstown, Illinois, on Friday, April 24, with the tour heading north to the Peoria Speedway, in Peoria, Illinois, for the Garry Swibold Memorial on Saturday, April 25.
